Achieving the top band in HSC Chemistry requires deep conceptual understanding and knowledge. Our carefully designed classes thoroughly cover every aspect of the HSC Chemistry syllabus, ensuring every student has the ability to perform at their very best.
Each week, our students are supplemented by practical notes, weekly workbooks and access to 1,000+ past papers to help them build an in-depth understanding of course material. Project Academy represents the most personalised support system any high school Chemistry student can have.
Every week, your Chemistry teacher tailors each lesson to your needs. Chemistry classes are small, no larger than 15 students each and homework sets are personally marked by tutors who give thorough, personalised feedback.
Tutorials are weekly 1 – 4 private sessions with a personalised Chemistry tutor, who will act as your personal guide throughout the year. Your dedicated HSC chemistry tutor will be responsible for your weekly progress and act as your go-to for any assistance you require.
Every Project Academy student receives access to an unmatched library of Chemistry resources through our custom made tech ecosystem. This includes exclusive past papers, textbooks, and state-rank calibre notes not accessible anywhere else.
Ranging from HSC State Rankers to scholars at MIT and Wharton, our tutors are hand-picked based on academic performance and teaching prowess. All teachers have a record of producing amazing results amongst their students.
Project Academy provides you with everything you need for HSC success. NSW’s best HSC Chemistry tutors, incredible resources and unlimited support is just the beginning.
Comprehensive Notes
Project Academy has spent hundreds of hours over the last year creating resources for the new chemistry syllabus and depth studies. Our comprehensive notes cover every aspect of the HSC Chemistry syllabus and explore the underlying mechanics to build a thorough level of understanding.
1,000+ Past Papers
We’ve collected chemistry past papers from schools over the past 10 years and organised them into an app, with solutions, on your Project iPad
20 Mock HSC Exams (LEAP)
Project Academy's LEAP program prepares students for the worst possible scenario, pushing them to acknowledge any content gaps and any weaknesses in exam technique or study habits. This is achieved through rigorous weekly exams that are designed to predict the Chemistry HSC as well as review classes with HSC tutors to ensure the same mistakes are not made again.
Depth Study
Project Academy offers an extensive range of resources to assist Chemistry students in their new syllabus depth study assignments. This includes content specific chemistry books as well as books aimed at developing critical scientific skills. Additionally, sessions with a HSC Chemistry tutor will be provided in the case that a student requires further assistance.
Weekly Workbook
Our Chemistry workbooks are designed to make understanding and revising content for the HSC easier. Each workbook helps you capture class content in a neat, structured way so that you remember how to approach every HSC problem.
1,000+ Exam Style Questions
We've created a question bank comprised of over 1,000 original exam-style questions to target every aspect of the Year 12 Chemistry syllabus. This bank can be accessed by Chemistry students at any time, with tutors readily available to answer any queries or concerns.
Practical Notes
Your first HSC Chemistry Assessment is very likely a practical assessment. We’ve written a detailed guide which covers every aspect of "working scientifically" and includes practice exam questions and solutions to prepare you for practical tasks. Additionally, Project Academy students can book into sessions with a Chemistry tutor to cover any gaps in their understanding.
Be always one term ahead of school. Our Chemistry program is specially designed so that you are ready to sit the HSC an entire month beforehand.

The foundations of chemistry can be boiled down to: understanding and applying. Understanding the core concepts behind why reactions occur and why particular steps are done. This is not memorising the facts and figures of reactions and processes, but rather an understanding of why things are done. Many of the concepts are foundational to many different reactions (e.g. Markovnikov’s Rule in all addition reactions). Then following from this, being able to apply this understanding in more applicative questions in chemistry. The best way of doing this continual and repeated revision and practice all types of Chemistry exam-style questions (such as data analysis questions, calculations and long responses). Start practising exam style response techniques early on - being able to assess what a question requires and what each mark might be allocated to takes time and practice. By doing so, you’re more likely to retain and absorb the Chemistry content which you can then apply in your exams. We recommend having a look at our HSC Chemistry Study Guide.
The HSC Chemistry syllabus covers a vast variety of different areas including organic chemistry, electrochemistry and spectrophotometry. Certainly, there are challenging aspects of Chemistry, as there is with many other subjects. However, I believe that divulging yourself in more difficult subjects during year 12 will benefit you in the long term, beyond your secondary schooling. The most important thing to remember is that if you’re passionate about a subject or enjoy the subject you’re learning that it won’t feel “hard” but more so that you’re challenging yourself to learn more concepts that apply to the wider society.
With every HSC subject, not just chemistry, scaling is only one small factor in your overall performance. Whilst yes, looking at all subjects Chemistry does scale relatively more promisingly that other subjects, again, passion and enjoyment for a subject is ultimately what shines through. As long as you’re passionate and willing to work for what you want to achieve, success in HSC Chemistry is within your grasp!
Project Academy’s LEAP program is a dedicated 12-week block designed by a few of the most incredible and passionate tutors for chemistry, aimed to enable students to excel in their school trials and HSC. It involves weekly sittings of 3 hour LEAP exams, LEAP Class Reviews and LEAP tutorials which focus on skills, exam technique and habits developed from the highest achieving students in the state. Individualised feedback is provided to each student on every exam which enables us and students to hone in on specific areas to work on. Additionally, the 12-week programs provides an incredibly valuable opportunity to track progress and allow for examining of all aspects of the syllabus to enhance foundational and applicative skills in chemistry.
